Commune Rainau

Consists of the districts Schwabsberg, Buch, Dalkingen, Saverwang and Weiler.


Rainau-Buch recreation area with a 25-hectare reservoir, leisure and recreational opportunities such as swimming, surfing, sailing, rowing, hiking or cycling.

Bath House

Fort village with 2 preserved stone buildings, fort illustrated by hedges in the Rainau-Buch recreation area.
Right on the lake: fort baths - fully excavated. Walls of the second construction phase preserved.
Fort village: South and south-east of the bath, two stone buildings preserved after excavation (living house and small bath building).

Limes Park in the attractive local recreation area "Stausee Buch"

A circular hiking trail was created in the Rainau-Buch recreation area, which uses preserved or reconstructed monuments to show the different varieties of the Raetian Limes.

Wooden limes tower with palisade district Schwabsberg

Schwabsberg: Forest “Mahdholz” – parts of the Limes wall with stone tower (WP 12/77) conserved; reconstruction of the Limes wall; replica of a wooden watchtower.

Fort district Buch

South gate visible. Floor layout and internal buildings of the fort clarified by geophysical measurements, line of the defence wall made visible through planted hedges: a model illustrates what the fort looked like during Roman times.

Elaborately designed triumphal arch, district Dalkingen

From the Rhine to the Danube, no parallels to this finding are known from the Roman imperial border. Preserved, five construction phases identified during excavations, in the most recent phase the gate had an elaborate, triumphal arch-like façade.
